Jaz Mirabel Beach Resort - Sharm El Sheikh - Egypt
Jaz Mirabel Beach was lovely, we went at the start of the summer so it was extremely hot and dry so probably not good for those with sun sensitivity as I was wearing factor 50 and still managed to get slightly burnt some days! Mirabel Beach is slightly more costly than the other two Mirabel's (Club and Park being the other two) but it is worth it. As the hotel is relatively new it is very clean and well maintained.I particularly liked the large showers and mirrors in the bathrooms. The staff are very friendly and are often trying to joke around with you which makes it all seem very welcoming. The food is OK, nothing special but it depends on which day you go to - they have different themes each night. The breakfasts are nice, they have a variety of fruit, bread and jams as well as the usual cereals (although i did find the milk was slightly warm but the jam and croissants were lovely!)I'm not sure whether it was the time of year we went (June) but the place seemed almost empty which was excellent! It made the place quiet and peacfull and there were always plenty of sun beds to go around. The hotel has shops of its own so theres no need to go outside of the hotel other than for activities, which there were plenty to book. We did the Red Sea snorkling and dinner under the stars which were both fantastic! Although I don't recommend the quad bikes.Overall it's a lovely place to go and I would definately recommened it.
Thalassa Village Skanes formerly Club Skanes Garden - Skanes - Tunisia
Fantastic hotel. Great food and plenty of choice. Great pools with plenty of sun loungers. Use indoor pool if you go in winter though. All staff were friendly and helpful. Anis and Sammy were wonderful. Would definately recommend this hotel to everyone.
Lykia World / Residence - Olu Deniz - Turkey
Lykia World Residence is amazing. The hotel itself is huge and can take 15 minutes just to walk from one end to the other, but it's worth it for the beautiful scenery. There are lots of pools including at least 2 over 18 pools which is lovely if you want peace and quiet. The food is delicious, they have a different theme each night with LOTS of choice. I particularly liked the range of fresh fruit which were very yummy! You are never far from a bar to purchase drinks when the sun gets too hot, the beach is lovely and has a platform you can swim out to to view marine life.Olu Deniz is a 5 minute drive away and taxi's a provided by the hotel, the staff are very friendly and most speak good English. They have a different show on every night. I watched a few and enjoyed them all, had a good laugh at some and was in awe over others.I would definately go back to this resort when i get the chance!
Pueblo Torviscas Apartments - Playa de las Americas - Tenerife
publo torviscas tenerife with thompsons big mistake.just returned today this was our forth and last time there, the manageress was totaly unhelpful,we arrived on tues 11th november 2008 for 7 nights,i had asked for top floor pref over looking pool if possable, we were sent to our block f 1st floor to find that the lift was in pieces on the floor and did not work, and we were above regent 44 pub that was in middle of refit with building going on. i went back and asked manageress if we could move rooms as we were concerned about noise from building she told me building was finishing next day, i said this would be even worse because of the live music every night as we go to bed earlyish, she told me there was no live music this was a lie,she told me to come back next fri if we still wanted to change room.i then asked here how we were ment to get our suit cases upstairs, she replied carry them and walked off.the rooms have gone down and are dirty i wrote clean me & dirty in the top of our mirror glass in bathroom when we first arrived it was there for three days before the cleaner wiped it off, our towels were changed once in 7 days and our beds were not changed at all.this is a shame as we have had some really good holidays here and liked the place but the new manageress is horrible and a liar as ther was live music every night till midnight, she also told us our room had a see view this was not true we had a concrete wall and a tree and also had bars on our belcony we felt like we were in prison for a week, this is not how we like to spend our holidays, but they don't care once they have your money.once i had carried our suit cases up stairs i pulled a mussle in my neck and sholder whitch spoilet it for me as we had booked siam park and all i could do was sit and watch the rest of the family.
Palmarhina Hotel - Calangute - Goa
This was our first time in Goa and we found the hotel to be extremely well-managed and very clean. Our room was on the ground floor, which we had requested via First Choice so that it would be more comfortable for my partner, who was recovering from an operation. The bedding and towels were changed every day. The shower was always hot. The breakfast was lovely - eggs in every form and omelettes to your requirements, two sorts of fresh fruit, the yummiest grilled tomatoes, a sort of hash brown which was better than the real thing, and lots of Indian nibbles. We were on bed/breakfast but the hotel restaurant was very good. We ate in there a few times and sometimes just stayed in our room, watching a film on the tv and had the excellent room service. The main hotel pool was situated situated outside our room - cleaned thoroughly every morning. There were plenty of sunbeds, but it was low season and there were not many of us there. There is a smaller pool near to the restaurant terrace, with plenty of sunbeds. There was some form of entertainment on every night - from DJ to singing duo, karaoke and an Indian Folk dancing night. The staff are wonderful, especially in the restaurant. the boys cannot do enough for you- always helpful and the brightest smiles I have ever seen. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone. There is a free bus going to Calangute on the hour through the day - but it was only 100 rupees by taxi- the stand is just outside the hotel.
Crown Resorts Horizon - Coral Bay, Paphos - Cyprus
Transport to and from hotelWe pre-booked a small car from Eurpcar for our holiday and even though we paid a second additional insurance for the excess to be wavered in the event of an accident, we were still offered a third additional insurance to cover the car interior and under body. We were told at the airport that this car was an upgrade, but it had obviously seen better days, nevertheless it never gave up on us.All inclusive and (AI) all inclusive light (AIL)The web page for this hotel remained unchanged from our last visit, it only advertises an AI option. We were informed by the holiday provider (Holiday Hypermarket) that we would be AIOn arival, we were given wrist bands appropriate to AIL by the receptionist. We upgraded the day after arrival to full AI at £5 per head.Lack of clarity was vividly commented upon by other holiday providers.Initial impressionThe hotel looked clean tidy with plenty of grounds. The reception, lounge, shops, bar, entertainments area and coffee shop were all in one large area which reached up to the second floors. The area was tiled. The bar opened internally into the main hall and externally onto a large patio. Grounds were expansive and well kept. ChildrenÂ's and adult game furniture were placed within the grounds. The swimming pool was broken up by a bridge, fountain etc.We were hastened through the check in procedure. On this occasion all they were focused upon was that our signatures were made on the appropriate areas.AccommodationWe were given a room on the mezzanine floor, which overlooked the main hall. Our room was one of a series on the mezzanine, some of the mezzanine was covered by one pane of glass and there appeared to be a second mezzanine above us.During the holiday our ability to sleep was dictated by the people in the bar. those returning late at night and the maids cleaning first thing in the morning. Solid walls in the main hall ensured excellent acoustics, the ability of our bedroom door to stop this noise was as good as the proverbial chocolate fireguard. We asked to be moved on the first night, but were told that we would have to see the manager the following afternoon. First meeting with the manager seemed favourable with a suggestion that we would be moved, but we would have to come back the next day. We dutifully returned the next day only to be told the hotel was full and that we would have to stay put.No evidence was given as to the decision making process, I believe that the hotel was and had always had been full, someone had to put up with these rooms, it may just as well be us.An unwelcome complaint from the entertainments manager that the entertainment had to finish early due to complaints from holidaymakers suggested that others were in the same position as us . Irrespective of what entertainment was taking place, the noise remained until the last person left the bar and lounge area.FoodBreakfast, lunch and diner took place in the main restaurant. There was a Â"themedÂ" menu every night, the Cypriot night was good, but other international dishes are best experienced at appropriate restaurants. The restaurant was busier late morning and early evening.I suffered from acute food poisoning on the Wednesday, which can only be attributable to the food I eat at the hotel, it was over 40 hrs since I eat elsewhere. It took 4 days for this to pass through my system.DrinksDrinks were served from the main bar by competent and efficient staff. The pool bar and coffee bar never opened. Entertainment and amenitiesNo different to normal hotel entertainment. Warm enough to use the outdoor pool.CONCLUSIONWould I go back to a Horizon Crown Resort Hotel again, the answer will be never.
Topkapi Palace Hotel - Antalya - Turkey
Had a brilliant time.Hotel isn't 5 star in english terms, but still a great place to stay. Big pool, quiet pool around the back if u want to get away from the noise. Can also use the Kremlin's facilities next door.I see people moaning about not many english people. Are people serious? Are we that really anti-social and can only feel at home with english people around!! These people shouldn't take holidays abroad!! Never had any problems with any of the guests. Staff are friendly, and try hard to make it enjoyable for kids.Food is great if u book into the restaurants, otherwise the buffet style food gets boring after the second day.Loved lazing on the big pillows by the beach drinking wine!! Would definitely go there again.
Abalone Resort - Arpora - Goa
It really upsets me to listen to read on this site about people accusing it of being too basic! Goa is a wonderful place and after all the hotel is just to sleep in. Ok it was a shock when we got there because it has got only what you need but you look around Goa and its paradise compared to what the locals have to put up with and they are happy,to here people who come back and moan about the state of this hotel just proves to me that they did not learn anything from there visit and would be better going to greece or somewhere like that. the hotel has excellent staff who provide excellent service, very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for us, the coffee is beautiful (I had milky coffee and toast every day, yum!)also try the indian breakfast that is to die for. If you leave your key in the reception they clean your room and do decorations with the towels. I feel it is the little things that matter. If you are used to luxury then you may be in for a shock but stay with it and I think you will have a change of heart by your second day. It is a little far from some places but taxi's are so cheap it hardly matters. Theft is absolutely nothing to worry about. I had a safety deposit box to keep passports tickets and english money in, but phones, Mp3's etc stayed in the room by the second day as I felt so confident they would be fine, and guess what they were! I would definatly recommend this hotel to anyone who is open minded. Its great and I am already looking to rebook.
King Minos Palace Hotel - Hersonissos - Crete
The rooms in the Hotel were well maintained and by the look of it they have all been refurbished, room had Fridge,TV,phone, hairdrier the aircon froze you to death(however the temperature outside was very rarely above 85) The rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed. The food was plentifull and varied sometimes some was not as hot as i would have liked however the old waiters/waitresses soon banged it in the Microwave if you ask them to. The staff were very helpfull and so polite it was extremely refreshing to say the least. The Entertainments team were spot on! not in your face all the day and actually sat on your sunbeds talking to you rather than trying to get you up doing stuff you don't want. The beds around the pool are free however as usual the Brits abroad get up early to nab them snack bar around the pool area was brilliant and reasonably priced as well.We would definately return to this Hotelagain
Radisson SAS Resort - Sharm El Sheikh - Egypt
I think the General Manager of The Radisson SAS deserves a big pat on the back. What a fabulous hotel! There is nothing to moan about, the hotel is immaculate, all the staff respectful, friendly and so helpful. The animation team were hysterical and made the holiday. Ahmed was too funny and made all the guests laugh and want to join in. They were mega. The location was perfect for us. There was enough to do in Nabq Bay and itwas lovely and safe. It was fantastic value for money. If I had to moan about something, it would only be that the pool was freezing and once I did get in, my arms went numb after a couple of strokes, which wasn't a problem, as we then swam in the sea. People do come round the pool and try and sell you things, but you just say "No Thank you" and they wish you a good day and go away. Just respect that they are trying to earn a living, and go with the flow. This is definately a 5* hotel, (And I have stayed in many 5*s all over the world.) We had no bad tummies at all nor did we get bitten. Very simple: Dont eat salad, or drink ice cubes. Also take a mossie repellent to put in your room and spray yourself at night. You cannot fault this hotel for anything. Cleanliness, fab staff, pool area, everything. Breakfast could be a little disorganised, but so what!!!!! You're on holiday, CHILL........... Get into the Egyptian spirit, have fun, haggle and be polite. We are booking to go back next year. The holiday was magical! So well done ALL the Radisson SAS team!
