PISCIOTTA is framed by the Cilento and Vallo del Diano National Park, which is the second largest in Italy. The park is situated in the southern part of the Campania region.
The Land resounds with echoes of mythology and significant evidence of the presence of ancient civilizations: Paestum, Velia, Roccagloriosa, Palinuro where the famous scuba diving school is situated with 30 sea grottoes, 5 reachable by boat the rest by divers.
The town clinging to a hilltop, cloaked in century-old olive groves amongst the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, stretches out to an emerald green sea. The town has succeeded in avoiding the construction horrors which usually accompany mass tourism and has therefore retained its sober and austere beauty; its houses, its narrow streets, its folklore tell of the ancient history of a medieval village.
The cuisine, all local produce (vegetables, fish, extra- virgin olive oil) but produced with good taste and and fantasy, is the typical expression of Mediterranean gastronomy.
The hospitality of the inhabitants, the religious festivals, the theatre, the live music in the Piazza, are the calling card of this picturesque Cilento centre.
